BERN, Switzerland (AP) -- Switzerland has arrested at least 10
people in connection with Internet child pornography as part of a
120-nation investigation that began in the United States, police
said Friday.
Eight of those arrested are also under suspicion of having sex
with children , said Juerg Schaeublin, coordinator of the operation
for the Swiss federal police.
In the operation, which started last year in the United States,
U.S. authorities obtained customer details in investigations of
several firms which offered Internet access to child pornography,
Schaeublin said. Investigators traced the customers by tracking
fees paid to the companies by credit card.
Interpol alerted the Swiss authorities of the suspects in
Switzerland last February, Schaeublin said. Swiss investigators
examined more than 100,000 photo and video files on 21 Web sites, a
third of which were found to be illegal.
Swiss police searched 400 houses across the country in an
operation that started Sept. 6.

The nobler and more perfect a thing is, the later and slower it is in arriving at maturity. A man reaches the maturity of his reasoning powers and mental faculties harly before the age of twenty-eight; a woman, at eighteen. And then, too, in the case of woman, it is only reason of a sort--very niggardly in its dimensions. That is why women remain children their whole life long, never seeing anything but what is quite close to them, cleaving to the present moment, taking appearence for reality, and preferring trifles to matters of the first importance. -Arthur Schopenhauer, "On Women" (1851) |
