     News: CDs and Audio Cassettes of two collections of Anti Trafficking Songs Produced by

    Human TraffickingATC Prerana Release:
    13 September 2004

    The Anti Trafficking Centre of PRERANA has produced two collections of anti trafficking songs for preventive social awareness and sensitization.

      The first collection of songs is in the Hindi language titled “Hoga Man Ujiyara” (“the Mind shall brighten up”) which is a collection of 7 songs. Concept, content, poetry  and direction by Mr. Pravin Patkar, lyrics by Mr. Binod Chandra Sharma alias "Jigar" and Mr. Pravin Patkar, music by Mr. Devdatta Sabale, singers- Ms. Sanjivani Bhelande, Mr. Shivprasad Mallya, Mr. Swapnil Bandiwadekar. The tunes and the music of the songs in this collection are aimed at reminding the audience of the golden age of the Hindi songs. The creation of this collection was sponsored by the Public Affairs Section U.S. Embassy New Delhi.

    The second collection of 6 songs is in the Marathi language titled “Bai Yeyu Naye Bajari” (“Let No Woman Land up in this Trade”). Concept, content, poetry and direction by Mr. Pravin Patkar, lyrics by Mr. Vilas Jaitapkar and Mr. Pravin Patkar, music Mr. Devdatta Sabale, singers – Ms. Mahalaxmi Aiyyer, Mr. Tyagraj Khadilkar, Ms. Shakuntala Jadhav. Four of the 6 songs in this collection have been purposely based on  catchy folk tunes in order to ensure larger audience and replay. The creation of this collection was sponsored by the South Asian Regional Initiative for Equity (SARI/Q) of AED New Delhi.

    The members of Network Against Commercial Sexual Exploitation & Trafficking (NACSET) who met for their annual meeting on the 9 th and the 10 th September 04 at Ahmednagar, Maharashtra decided to take these collections far and wide in rural  as well as urban Maharashtra on the occasion of the forthcoming Ganesh festival which is a very popular festival in the state.

    Although ATC Prerana does not propose to sell these collections and undertakes to disseminate them freely through various media and networks it will be highly appreciated if interested people donate some amount to Prerana against the receipt of the collections. The produce will go back in making more awareness material.
